High School
On the high school side for the 2 day tournament, Walton Slaven and Sophie Guess posted a weight of 19.27 lbs. Cole McDaniel and Logan Cargle posted a weight of 13.39 lbs. On the junior side, all of our anglers fishing solo, Nathan Parker posted 5.96 lbs, Eli Richards 5.3 lbs, and Cora Beth McCrary 1.68lbs.
Great season and thank you for finishing the game. We look forward to next month when Walton Slaven will attend the Wiley X MLF Camp and Tournament at Kentucky Lake and Cole McDaniel and Logan Cargle will be the first in the history of our program to compete at the Bassmaster High School National Championship presented by Academy Sports at Lake Hartwell.
Two of our teams (Walton Slaven and Caleb May, Cole McDaniel and Logan Cargle) participated in the GHSA State Championship this past weekend. Qualifying for the GHSA Championship can be tough. We are proud of these two teams for making it to the end. While the results this weekend were not as good as we hoped, they did represent Tift County well. Finding the larger bass proved elusive at Clarks Hill Lake. Thank you for supporting our program. Both of these teams will also compete in the FL BASS State Championship next month along with 3 of our middle school teams. Enjoy the attached pics.
February 4th & 5th the Blue Devil Bass Team competed against 100's of anglers at the 2 day FL BASS Nation tournament at Lake Seminole. Congratulations to the following top 20 anglers:

10th Place in the Junior Division - Cora Beth McCrary
14th Place in the Junior Division - Nathan Parker and Cayden Sumner
Sunday:
11th Place in the Junior Division - Nathan Parker and Cayden Sumner
17th Place in the Junior Division - Eli Richards and Caden Wynn
19th Place in the Junior Division - Cora Beth McCrary
Thank you immensely for supporting our team. Your sponsorship makes these trips possible. Our high school teams did not place in the top 20, but they did weigh in. These teams included Walton Slaven and Sophie Guess, Cole McDaniel and Logan Cargle, Gavin McDuffie and Preston Peters, Mason Lundy and Zach Ring, and Emma Thompson and Canton Moore.
Today, Logan Cargle and Cole McDaniel made history for the Blue Devil Bass Team. They competed in the Bassmaster Open at the Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida and tied for 9th place with a 15 lb weigh-in, guaranteeing their spot at the national high school Bassmaster tournament in July. This event was not on the schedule for the Blue Devil Bass Team and was not sanctioned by the district. Logan and Cole chose to compete in this event on their own. We are proud of their performance today against 199 other teams from throughout the United States. They are the first team in the history of our program to secure their spot at the national tournament.

Bass fishing was good this weekend for multiple south GA districts including Tift County. The Blue Devil Bass Team had 4 teams participate in the tournament with 3 of them weighing in. Congratulations to Cole McDaniel and Logan Cargle for an 11.64lb bag, tying them for 12th out of 251 boats. This means Cole and Logan are the first this year to win our Double Digit award for a bag 10lbs or better. They are also the first to qualify for the GHSA State Championship later this year at Clarks Hill. Congratulations to Caleb May for a big gain in AOY points this weekend with a 5.14lb bag weighed in by Caleb and Walton Slaven. In addition, with the assistance of their reserve Captain Kyle Richards, Canton Moore and Emma Thompson weighed in a 5.13lb bag. Also, participating this week were Gavin McDuffie and Preston Peters.
Get ready to hit Seminole again in 2 weeks for the FL BASS Nation tournament, also launching from Earle May Boat Basin.
The Blue Devil Bass Team has wrapped up another tournament on a cold, windy and even sleeting Lake Lanier. Two of our teams brought in solid, full bags of Spots and Largemouth. Congratulations to the following teams for their success on Saturday.
Cole McDaniel and Mason Grist - 5 fish for 11.65 lbs
Canton Moore and Emma Thompson - 5 fish for 9.87 lbs
They speak to the quality of anglers we have in the program.
Our anglers are drying out from a wet weekend at Lake Seminole. Rain pounded the lake Friday and Saturday as our anglers hit the water for pre-fish and day 1 of the Florida Bass Nation State Qualifier at Lake Seminole. Thank you to Glenn Cale and the group at FL BASS Nation for an incredible weekend. The Blue Devils had 8 boats, 16 anglers, 8 captains, and several parents present for the event. The tournament was a 2 day event, Saturday and Sunday.
5 fish limit for Cole McDaniel and Mason Grist on Sat. with a total of 9.45 lbs followed by Kaylon Hill and Remington Godwin for a total of 6.02 lbs
On the junior side, Cora Beth McCrary and Hadley Griffin took the stage with 3.13 lbs and a 15th place finish Sat.

The Blue Devil Bass Team has wrapped up their GA BASS tournament at Lake Seminole. Several anglers gained valuable AOY points heading into a two-day tournament at Lake Seminole with FL BASS in just two weeks. Thank you to all of our captains Saturday, as 7 boats from Tift County competed in the event. We would like to especially recognize Bill Jackson and his two sons Conner and Carter (seniors at TCHS). Bill picked up two anglers from another district whose boat broke down right before weigh-in. He then transported them and their catch back to the boat ramp in Bainbridge, bringing in both his bass and the other boat's bass (a 16lb sack!). This was a good display of sportsmanship on the part of Tift County. Our anglers learn a lot on the water, including how to treat their competitors.
While most people were asleep and warm 5:00 am Saturday morning, the Blue Devil Bass team high school anglers were launching boats, putting on their artic gear, and game planning as to how they could find some bass on the 37,500 acre swampy, stump filled, and painfully cold Lake Seminole. 200 boats from high schools across the state competed in the Georgia High School Association Seminole Tournament. Congratulations to Cole McDaniel and Mason Grist for placing 14th out of 200 boats and qualifying for the state tournament to be held this May at Clarks Hill. Also competing were Kaylon Hill, Remington Godwin, Logan Cargle and Gavin McDuffie.
When you talk about a relentless pursuit of excellence, don't forget about the Blue Devil Bass Team. They wanted to pull a couple of "tanks" from Lake Seminole and that is exactly what happened at the Florida Bass Nation Seminole Tournament (162 teams competing) this past weekend. Take a look at the two Largemouth beasts caught by anglers this weekend. Mason Lundy landed a 5.33 lb bass on Sunday. Mason Grist pulled in a 6.67 lb lunker (ggg...giant bass) on Saturday and made history for the Blue Devil bass team with their first Big Bass award in a major tournament. In addition, Sophie Guess and Walton Slaven placed 9th in the junior division on Saturday followed by Emma Thompson and Canton Moore who finished 10th. Again, in the junior division on Sunday, Mason Lundy and Zach Ring finished 7th. Also, competing were Cole McDaniel, Logan Cargle, Cora Beth McCrary, and Gavin McDuffie. Thank you to all of the anglers for competing in weather conditions that would make most men cry. You are competing against the best of the best and representing our district well.
Side Note: The owner of Flint River Park, where many of our anglers and families stayed, paid a personal visit to Patrick McDaniel, president of the booster club, to let him know how appreciative his folks were to host the Blue Devil Bass Team and their families. This is a testament to how well this group represents the T.
They are looking forward to their tournament in January back on the St. Johns river.
This past weekend the Blue Devil Bass Team competed in the first Florida Bass Nation tournament for the 21-22 season. The two-day tournament, launching from the St. Johns River in Palatka, FL, hosted 161 boats from Florida and Georgia, including the boat of legendary Bass Pro Scott Martin and his daughter Hillary. There were 6 Blue Devil boats competing, consisting of 3 high school teams and 3 junior teams. The top finishes for Saturday were Logan Cargle and Gavin McDuffie in 20th place for the high school division and Emma Thompson and Canton Moore in 19th place for the junior division. The top finishes on Sunday were Emma Thompson and Canton Moore at 13th place and Walton Slaven and Sophie Guess at 16th place in the junior division. Also competing this weekend on the high school side were Conner Jackson, Carter Jackson, Cole McDaniel and Mason Grist. In addition, on the junior side, the Blue Devils had Mason Lundy and Zach Ring. Congratulations to Logan Cargle who attained some great Angler of Year points with a 7lb giant bass on Saturday followed by a 6lb bass on Sunday. Thank you to our captains Pat McDaniel, Ray Lundy, Ricky Thompson, Michael Slaven, Klinton Guess, Corey Cargle, and Bill Jackson. The next Blue Devil bass tournament will be held at Lake Seminole in November.
