This past weekend the Blue Devil Bass Team did battle against 290 of the best anglers in the Southeast. They launched early Saturday morning from Trout Creek just south of Jacksonville and made 45-60 minute rides to their first spot on the massive 320 mile hurricane ravaged St. Johns River. On Saturday, just two of our teams weighed-in (Walton Slaven and Sophie Guess, Gavin McDuffie and Preston Peters) with only 1/2 of the entire field weighing in. This underscored to our anglers the importance of each opportunity in this sport. On Sunday, the results were a little better for our team. Cole McDaniel and Logan Cargle weighed in 8.34 lbs. Walton Slaven and Sophie Guess weighed in 4.3 lbs. Other teams to weigh in were Mason Lundy and Zach Ring and Nathan Parker and Cayden Sumner (11th in the Junior Division). Each of these teams gained valuable AOY points and also received a good dose of grinding it out for this sport.
